February Recap

We've had a full month!  So I thought I'd do a little recap.

We've been plugging away at school but this is something Katelyn did all on her own one morning.  She wants to hang it on the door to her room.  "The science girl is in here..."  She loves all things science.

Katelyn and Noah have had lots of time together this winter and they are the best of friends.  Katelyn is so kind and patient and Noah just goes along with all of the silly things Katelyn tells him to do.  They're perfect for each other.

When you have a sister you get a pink "cape" put on you and you don't complain about it.

Here's Noah "doing school."  He had to put the colored pom poms in the egg carton where the corresponding colors are.  He thought it was pretty fun.

Does it get any sweeter than this?

Noah turned 2 earlier this month!  Happy birthday, Noah!  I had big plans for an elaborate cake...um, that didn't happen.  But we did have a fun birthday celebration with family and Noah was more than happy to eat this cake.

Playing with cousin Charlie and the new presents.

 Such a big boy!

 Yep, I like my cake.

 Such a little stinker.

We went to Great Wolf Lodge for a couple of nights for Noah's actual birthday.  It was the perfect getaway and we all had lots of fun together.

The kids are sharing a big ice cream on Noah's birthday.

 Lots of playing.

 Katelyn loved the water slide.

We went bowling.  (The kids quickly lost interest in this.)

This is the perfect winter spot for a family with little kids.  We'll be back I'm sure.

On our way back to Lexington we spent the morning at Newport Aquarium.

The alligator was huge!!  Katelyn, not so much.

Last stop before home was a German restaurant called Hofbrahaus.  We filled our bellies and the kids were asleep literally two blocks from the restaurant. (I fell asleep down the road a bit.)  Good thing Michael was driving.

We found out a couple of weeks ago that we're having a little girl.  We're super excited and can't believe that it won't be long and we'll be doing all this stuff with THREE kids!  Whew....I'm tired already.

Here's to spring coming quickly!!

Happy Chinese New Year

In September Katelyn started going to a Chinese dance class once a week.  She has really loved it.  They had their first performance today celebrating Chinese New Year (which started yesterday).

She wasn't nervous at all.  She was very excited to get up on stage and perform in front of an audience.  (Surprise, surprise)

She got to wear her first makeup today.  :)

She really did do a good job.

The last number of the show was all of the performers doing a fashion show.  It was pretty amazing.  They had unique costumes for most of the girls.  It was highlighting three different people groups in northeast China.  It was really beautiful.

She's growing up way too fast.

Here's Katelyn with a couple of the other girls that are in her class.  She's in the youngest class and it was fun to watch the older girls perform and see what she might be doing in the future.

Gung Hoy Fat Choy!  (Happy New Year!)

More snow!!

It has been so cold here the kids and I haven't left the house since lunch on Wednesday! (Today is Saturday.)

We got a bunch of snow this morning and it actually warmed up the temperature (in the 20s instead of 0 degrees).

So Michael and the kids went out to play (I went out far enough to take a few pictures.)

With Michael's assistance Noah actually walked around in the snow.

 There was snowman construction.

 Cute boy.

 There were snow angels.

She was very proud of her snowman.

 There was a snowball fight.

Kids just don't care how cold it is.

 Trying to catch some snowflakes.

 A big snow angel.

We gathered fresh snow before they started playing and made snow ice cream when everyone came in.  Katelyn thought that was the best thing ever!

There are more cold, cold days ahead. But today was actually pretty fun.  Besides the snow play I made banana, chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, we all watched a movie together and I made homemade soup and bread for dinner.  Michael was gone on a business trip last weekend so this weekend we were pretty content just to stay in and hang out together.  I love my family!

Snow day!!

Yesterday it was 50 degrees.  Today we woke up to this...

 Our cute little snow bear.

We got a couple of inches of snow.  Katelyn was in heaven.

 One of many snow angels.

She stayed outside until I made her come in.

It was so windy that it blew all of the snow off of the patio.  Noah was not so sure about playing in the snow so he stayed on the porch.

Katelyn loves the snow but I'm ready for spring already.

Fall fun!

The weather has cooled down.  The leaves have mostly fallen off the trees.  We are right in the middle of fall.

Noah was enjoying a little snack with daddy.

Noah now likes coloring (for a few minutes at a time) and stickers.
He looks like such a big boy!

Noah likes to hide between the bar stools.

And he likes to reorganize the pantry.

One of Katelyn's favorite things is a pile of leaves to play in.

She was making a leaf angel.

 Wild boy!

 Noah liked the leaves too.

Here's my attempt at keeping Noah busy while doing school with Katelyn.

 They love playing together.

Noah really enjoyed spaghetti night.  Spaghetti night = bath night.

Here I am with my nephew, Jax.

Poor Niki was just trying to enjoy her banana pudding in peace.  But Mooch and Moochier wanted some too.  Notice Charlie trying to move Noah along.

Trick or Treat?

There weren't any tricks, but there were LOTS of treats.  These kids brought in some serious loot tonight.

 Ready to go!

Noah thought going up to houses and getting candy given to him was the best thing ever.

He was a pro.  People gave him double just because he was cute.

Katelyn really enjoyed trick or treating this year.  She went with two of her friends that we always trick or treat with.

This picture is blurry but it was so cute.

Two nights of Halloween fun.  Michael and I are exhausted.  The kids are knocked out.  A successful year. :)
