A new season

I'm well aware that we are still smack dab in the middle of winter...but in my life, the season has already changed. Spring has come and there is much joy and new life. I wanted the blog to reflect this so I gave it a little face lift.

The Bible verse that I put up in the header has been taped to my bathroom mirror for the last year. God truly has been so faithful to rebuild me and I am again dancing merrily.
Welcome to my spring!

Snow day - again!

We got several inches of snow last night...and it's REALLY cold out. So the living room was transformed into a fort today. Katelyn LOVED it. She dragged books, her sippy cup, her tambourine and various other toys into the Dora tent and climbed through it all a zillion times.
Silly fun.

This is Michael. He wanted to shovel the driveway and sidewalks for me....who am I to protest? Where am I, you ask??? Well, I stood on the porch to take this shot and that's as far outside as I went today. I was reading a magazine, nice and warm on the couch while the shoveling was taking place.

I'm really blessed!!

The sun'll come out....someday...

I know...I am blogging delinquent. Let me tell you what my week looks like. Go to the gym, go to the church, come home, repeat. It's been cold...rainy...cold...snowy...cold. So I have no fun outdoorsy, active Katelyn pictures for you. She was playing with my sunglasses the other day. I think she misses the sun. I know I do...
Katelyn is talking up a storm. She just repeats things a zillion times until I acknowledge what she's saying. She's been a little sick this week so we've added a good dose of whining to the mix also. Lovely...

But, she's still delightful!

On a physical accomplishment note for me...I ran a mile this morning without stopping. This was a big milestone for me. I've been working toward it for a long time. It was a mental and emotional accomplishment as well as a physical one. A year ago I wouldn't have been able to run a mile if my life depended on it. So now I'm working toward mile 2. I want to be able to run a 5K (3 miles and some change). I'm 65 pound lighter and feeling GREAT! (even in the middle of winter). I'm dating a great man who treats me like a treasure and he's been such a blessing. I feel like all is well in my world and it feels great to be moving forward....

Magic Crowns and Marsupials

Katelyn can do things herself now you know. She got a great dress up outfit for Christmas and she calls this her "magic crown." She obviously put it on herself. :)
Really, Katelyn's just one happy girl. She laughs and plays...constantly in motion. Her imagination is getting bigger and bigger.

This is the best Katelyn story of late. I taught Katelyn that kangaroos are marsupials. So when asked what a kangaroo is, she'll reply, "a mahsupeel." I taught her that marsupials carry their babies in their pouch. So when I asked Katelyn where the kangaroo's baby goes, she says, "In the couch." The first time she said this I nearly pee-ed my pants I laughed so hard. So I explained that it's not the couch, the mama kangaroo has a pocket. So now when I ask where the baby kangaroo goes, Katelyn says "the couch pocket." I mean, I can't even make this stuff up. Katelyn's imagination is so big I'm sure she thinks there really are baby kangaroos in the couch. All I have to say is that this little girl is one smart cookie.

Snow day!!!

I know, I know...I haven't updated the blog lately. But honestly, winter is just not a time of as many photo opportunities as any other season. This is what it looks like outside today. Not only have we gotten inches of snow (4 maybe so far and it's still snowing) but it's REALLY cold outside also. I know there are those die hards out there who are playing with their children in the freezing cold, but I've been chilled all day without spending much time outside. I know, I'm a wimp...I'm okay with that.
Katelyn woke up from her nap and was looking outside, wanting to go and play, but it was starting to get dark. We'll play outside tomorrow. I need to mentally prepare myself. ;)

She was happy to pose for a picture though. She must know that all of you are dying to see this sweet face.

I got her a new Sid the Science Kid dvd from Netflix and it came today...so we are in for the evening...cozy as can be...watching too much TV. (At least it's educational, right?)

We just want to know....Is it almost spring yet???? Please say yes.

My neighbor gave me a couple of seed catalogs so that we can start planning this year's garden. That will have to do for now. It was a snow day here in Fayette County...and it's already been called for tomorrow, so no after school program at the church. I love the kids, but it is a little fun to get the afternoons off from the normal routine.
